After being acquired by Paul Wüger Sr. in 1923, the hotel underwent a major renovation in 1928/29. At the time, it was considered the most modern hotel in northern Zurich and the only one offering hot and cold running water in every room – a remarkable innovation and a clear commitment to quality.

The hotel’s story is closely linked to the development of Zurich Oerlikon. With the opening of the Hallenstadion in 1939, the district became a key venue for sports, culture and major events.
