Wow Museum

Wow Museum

These rooms full of illusions will leave visitors completely confused at what they are perceiving.

Just a stone’s throw from Zurich Main Station, visitors to the Wow Museum are immersed in a world of optical and sensory illusions.

At the Wow Museum, you cannot help but be amazed: surprising sensory illusions literally take the ground from under your feet, cause a change in perspective, and make you continually ask yourself if your eyes are playing tricks on you.

Over three floors and 400 square meters (4,300 sq.ft), people of all ages can have plenty of fun. At the same time, the museum conveys much about culture and self- and external image, and also deals with topics such as virtuality and diversity.

Pavillon Le Corbusier

Pavillon Le Corbusier

The last work by the great architect, Le Corbusier, stands in a beautiful location on Lake Zurich.

The “Gesamtkunstwerk” – or “total work of art” – by Le Corbusier, completed in 1967, is a real architectural masterpiece. The last building constructed by the great Swiss-French architect, designer, and artist is the only of his buildings to be entirely made from glass and steel. This is significant in that for Le Corbusier concrete was not simply a material, but an actual tool. In addition, with this colorful building on the shores of Lake Zurich, Le Corbusier realized his concept of the synthesis of architecture, life, and art in real life. The exhibition pavilion is designed entirely according to the Modulor system, an anthropometric scale of proportions devised by Le Corbusier based on the human body and the golden ratio.

The pavilion is open from May to November. Under the aegis of the Museum für Gestaltung, temporary exhibitions, events, and workshops look at various areas of the broad oeuvre and great charisma of Le Corbusier.

Gin: Xoriguer Mahon

Gin:  Xoriguer Mahon

The name Xoriguer for the gin made in Menorca goes back to Miguel Pons Justo, who wanted to honor his family's windmill business. The bottle with the Mediterranean, traditional, family touch still shows the old windmill from 1784. The name "Mahon" alludes to the origin of Xoriguer Gins, Menorca's capital with just under 30,000 inhabitants. Wine alcohol (and no grain alcohol!) Is used for the production, which absorbs the aromas of a top-secret botanical mixture. Oddly enough, the team can taste the freshly produced distillate every ten minutes, as it comes out of the still at a drinking strength of 38%. - You can taste the gin on September 4th at the Gin Tasting in Restaurant Ö - remember!

On the Scottish island of Islay, Loch Indaal Bay is home to the island's two most important whiskey distilleries, Bowmore and Bruichladdich. The first and only gin from Bruichladdich is distilled at low pressure for 17 hours in a rare Lomond Still process developed in 1955. Composed of 31 botanicals, The Botanist is an exceptionally complex top-class gin.

Botanicals:

In addition to the 9 classic gin spices, 22 handpicked spices from the fertile island are added to the botanist. This gin is exclusively provided with these 22 spices and without additives.

Our perfect serve:

We drink this exciting gin with Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water and liquorice and mint as a side dish.

Best Gelati (Ice Cream) in Zurich

Best Gelati (Ice Cream) in Zurich

The small ice cream stand run by Daniel Kissling is by far the most charming gelateria in all of Zurich. Here happiness is served in the form of a scoop of ice cream.

Both children and adults are equally filled with anticipation as they stand in line at the Gelati am See for one of the mouthwatering sorbets or creamy ice creams. Besides the traditional flavors of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, there is also Ovaltine, passion fruit or – for the grown-ups – a creation comprising rum and raisins.

The location by the Riesbach harbor, directly on Lake Zurich, is simply perfect – for where better does an ice cream taste than sitting in the sun on the water’s edge? Exactly.

They can jump or dive into the water from one of the diving boards and swim to the rafts anchored in the lake around 30 meters (98 ft) away. There are also two small pools for non-swimmers, one for men and one for women. The upper sun terraces are also partly separated by gender.
